I have 15 years’ experience working in the minefield of family law disputes and can guide you in navigating the challenging path to resolution following the breakdown of a relationship, including:
- Divorce
- Domestic Violence;
- Property Settlement and Spousal Maintenance
- Financial Agreements (including Pre-nuptial & Relationship Agreements)
- Parenting Arrangements for your children;
- Private Child Support Agreements; and
- Mediation
Between 2004 and 2014 I spent a decade employed in the Family Court system as a Judges Associate. During that time I gained invaluable insight into the inner workings of the family law system, application of the law and all stages of litigation between parties in intractable disputes.
This background underpins my approach to how I assist my clients today in private practice, including wherever possible avoiding Court as a final destination for your matter. As a qualified Collaborative Lawyer I am driven by a solutions focused approach and work together with you, the other party and other practitioners to resolve disputes without the need for court proceedings. I am also a Nationally Accredited Mediator specialising in all aspects of Family Law matters. This means that I can be engaged by both parties jointly to impartially facilitate a negotiated outcome and avoid the emotional and financial impact of court proceedings. There are times and situations when litigation is necessary, and when that happens I apply an experienced and pragmatic approach to conducting Court proceedings. I am admitted as a Solicitor in the Supreme Court of Queensland and the High Court of Australia which means I can appear in Family Court matters in Courts throughout Australia.
In recent years I have served as a Board member for the Family Law Practitioners Association and I am a member of the Family Law Section of the Law Council of Australia, the Sunshine Coast Law Association and Queensland Law Society.
