Our team

Hi there. I am the Legal Practice Director here at Life Law Solutions. I’ve been working here since I started training as a lawyer in June 2005. I have been a lawyer since September 2005 helping clients within three main areas. During that time I have assisted clients to resolve their family law matters as quickly and sensibly as we can so their time and money can be spent on more important things. I have worked through estate plans with clients preparing their wills and enduring powers of attorneys to make sure they have a plan for the future. Finally, I have assisted families when it comes time to administer an estate, making sure that everything is done in accordance with the will and where necessary helping to meet or make claims against the estate.

I have been working in these areas of law for a long time. It means I go to Court when we need to and help clients navigate the court system which can be quite overwhelming at times. It is something that we try to avoid if we can. If there is an out of court solution, this is our preference for you.

I also assist the court in complex matters as a lawyer appointed for children – an independent children’s lawyer. This is the primary focus of my practice right now.  I am giving priority to assisting the Court in these parenting matters.

Knowledge and education are my key drivers. I believe that if you have practical information about your legal issue, you can be empowered to make decisions to resolve your matter and find solutions to those legal issues that impact your life. It’s something that I apply to all areas of business and life. I also make sure that my team is up to date with the latest training and further education so they can assist you. We have a great team here at Life Law Solutions with experience at all levels – our team can assist you with your ongoing family law, property, and will and estate matters.

I have written a book about all things family law to help you with that knowledge and education journey – ‘Trust yourself: How empowered decision making will assist you to resolve your family law matter‘. It is not your normal boring legal book.  It’s an easy read and sets out how having a deep understanding of your facts, your goals, the law, the system, and the reality will empower you to resolve your family law matter.

I also created a weekly reflection journal ’52 Weeks, 365 Opportunities’. If you haven’t tried journaling before, it is a good place to start. Or, if you don’t get the chance to sit down every day, but could commit to a weekly ritual, then it will work for you.  I fall into the second category. On either a Sunday afternoon or Monday morning I’ll take the time to reflect on the week that was and plan for the week ahead.

legal practice director

I joined the Life Law team in 2016 after many years of legal practice on Brisbane’s bayside in the challenging areas of Family Law, Domestic Violence and Criminal Law.

As a senior lawyer admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of Queensland and the High Court of Australia and having experience across a variety of jurisdictions, I am well placed to assist you in matters involving complex parenting disputes, recovery applications, property settlements and financial agreements.

Whilst comfortable advocating for my clients in the courtroom, whenever possible I assist clients to avoid Court where appropriate and work with you to reach lasting and workable agreements through negotiations or mediation with high rates of success. I am also experienced in assisting clients in collaborative negotiations where we get together through round table conferencing which is a non-litigious, convenient and cost effective way to resolve less complex matters.

If you have a police issue, I can help you. If you are being interviewed by police or you are facing allegations that you have committed a crime or breached an order or bail condition, I have assisted many clients with the full spectrum of criminal matters including assaults, drug and traffic matters. I regularly assist clients with Police interviews, representing clients on Bail Applications, Licence Applications (both Special Hardship and Restricted Licence Applications).

I am a member of the Family Law Practitioners Association, Family Law Section of the Law Council of Australia and the Queensland Law Society.

With 15 years of experience in family law, I can guide you through:

- Divorce
- Domestic Violence
- Property Settlement and Spousal Maintenance
- Financial Agreements (Pre-nuptial & Relationship)
- Parenting Arrangements
- Private Child Support Agreements
- Mediation

From 2004 to 2014, I worked as a Judges Associate in the Family Court, gaining valuable insights into the family law system and litigation.

My approach is solutions-focused, aiming to avoid court whenever possible. As a qualified Collaborative Lawyer and Nationally Accredited Mediator, I facilitate negotiated outcomes to minimize emotional and financial stress.

When litigation is necessary, I bring experience and pragmatism to court proceedings. Admitted to the Supreme Court of Queensland and the High Court of Australia, I can appear in Family Court matters nationwide.

I have served on the board of the Family Law Practitioners Association and am a member of the Family Law Section of the Law Council of Australia, Sunshine Coast Law Association, and Queensland Law Society.

Through her boutique practice, Grevillea Law, Nicky has spent years working hand-in-hand with families, couples, and business owners – particularly in rural and regional communities – helping them create meaningful, practical legacy plans. I am a fresh face to the Life Law team arriving in 2022 having practiced across the greater Brisbane area in Family Law, with a passion (a word I don’t use lightly) for work as an Independent Children’s Lawyer.

I am a senior lawyer admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of Queensland and the High Court of Australia for more years than I wish to admit. Working as a Child Lawyer has assisted my focus in preparing matters for parents who are involved in litigation.

Litigation is not the sole focus on my practice – conciliation and resolution is the preference because being in a court is not friendly and is stressful for everyone. Throughout my time in practice, I have enjoyed engaging in mediation and negotiations and seeking a negotiated outcome.

There is a significant appreciation of the dynamics of matters in family law as we are dealing with the most important “things” in your life – children and property.

I am a member of the Family Law Practitioners Association, Family Law Section of the Law Council of Australia, Child Protection Practitioners Association of Queensland and the Queensland Law Society.

I was very pleased to be offered the opportunity to join Life Law in May 2022. I have been working as a Family Law solicitor since I became admitted in mid-2018 and I have a dual degree in Bachelor of Laws (with Distinction) / Bachelor of Psychological Science. I have lived on the Sunshine Coast since 2013.

My passions include assisting vulnerable members of our community, especially those with young children. My favourite part of practising family law is when I am able to negotiate an outcome that best serves the parties (and their children), whether within or outside of the Federal Circuit and Family Court system.

My aim is to give my clients reasonable and measured advice and to support them through what can often seem like a never-ending process. I am able to assist with both Property and Parenting matters, and my goal is for the parties to reach a fair, collaborative solution as soon as practically possible.

I am a member of the Queensland Law Society, Sunshine Coast Law Association, Family Law Practitioners Association, Golden Key International Honour Society, Griffith Honours College Alumni, and am an Affiliate Member of the Australian Psychological Society.

Meagan Ammann

solicitor

At Life Law Solutions, I have the privilege of turning my passion into purpose every day. Since graduating with a Bachelor of Laws and completing my Practical Legal Training in 2021, I’ve been dedicated to guiding clients through some of life’s most complex and emotionally charged moments in family law, domestic violence, and criminal law, across South East Queensland.

My unwavering support, understanding, and a non-judgmental approach to law ensures that my client’s interests are protected and their voices are heard.

Currently, I’m deepening my knowledge and skills by completing a Masters of Applied Law (Family Law), which allows me to provide even more thoughtful and tailored advocate to my clients. As a proud member of the Queensland Law Society and the Family Law Practitioners Association of Queensland, I stay connected to the latest developments in the field to ensure the best outcomes.

Beyond the courtroom, I’m deeply invested in my community. I serve as the Secretary of my local high school P&C, where I help to ensure our future minds are having their needs met at school, and I’m also the MPIO (Member Protection Information Officer) for my local gymnastics club, ensuring that little athletes feel safe, supported, and protected as they pursue their dreams.

When I’m not advocating for clients or volunteering in the community, you’ll find me recharging in the great outdoors—camping under the stars and exploring nature trails with my husband, or unwinding at home with my dog and bearded dragon. These moments of balance and connection fuel my ability to bring empathy, clarity, and resilience to every case I take on.

At the heart of my work is a simple belief: everyone deserves compassion and a strong voice, especially when life feels overwhelming. Let’s navigate the challenges together—because your story matters.
